Painted in its trademark dusty pink and set in 9 acres of manicured gardens, The Mount Nelson is a Cape Town institution that has hosted Winston Churchill, John Lennon, Nelson Mandela, and countless heads of state. Under the Belmond brand (LVMH), the property operates to the very highest international luxury standards with an extraordinary heritage.

Pros: The heritage of The Nellie is extraordinary, you serve afternoon tea in the same gardens that Churchill once walked. Tips from the international luxury clientele are excellent. Belmond's global training programme is world-class.
Cons: The expectation of perfection is absolute, as it should be at this price point. The traditional hotel atmosphere requires a particular type of service sensibility that takes time to develop.

Pros: Producing pastry for a property of this heritage is a privilege. The kitchen is exceptional. Access to Belmond's global chef network and training is genuinely transformative. The afternoon tea programme is one of the best in Africa.
Cons: Early starts are non-negotiable in pastry. The LVMH standard of presentation is uncompromising.

Pros: Best concierge training in South Africa, Belmond invests properly. The connections you build with Cape Town's best venues and service providers are invaluable. The role builds your personal brand.
Cons: Guest demands at this level can be extraordinary and need to be met with a smile regardless. No tip structure for concierge at this property.
